Our first evening, after the temperatures had dropped a bit, we ventured across Martha’s neighborhood to the Tucson Botanical Garden. It was quite an evening for it – they stay open late on Thursdays during the summer, and they allow pets during certain times over the summer. So, we packed up a picnic dinner, and the five of us (John, Martha, Josh, Franklin, and I) spent a couple hours inspecting and admiring the variety of southwestern plants. We enjoyed a whole lot of citrus trees – John especially like the grapefruit. The whole site – and most of Tucson, from what we can tell – seemed to be very focused upon water conservation and sustainability. It was a nice little retreat in the city!
